It’s busy, busy here in the Shepherds Cottage kitchen, as I’m making up a large wholesale
order of gorgeous body whips for an independent Scottish subscription gift box – it’s so
exciting, and I’ll share more information about them later. In the meantime, I’ve been thinking
about these little tins of loveliness and how much people like using them. Whipped body
butter is one of the first things I started making for Shepherds Cottage, after the soaps. I
have really dry skin, and I needed something that would work after a bath, before bed, when
my hands started to get itchy, or when my legs looked ashy and my heels cracked.
Delightful, I know! It happens to the best of us – and from what you’ve told me, it happens to
most of you. And the whipped body butter makes it better. I might be biased here – I make it,
I use it and I love it, but other people love it too, and here’s why.
5 reasons you love our body whips
1. They are super nourishing
The ingredients in body butters are high in vitamins, antioxidants, and fatty acids,
which nourish and revitalise your skin, and add a layer of protection against moisture
loss so you have to use them less frequently. They are also richer than body creams
and a little bit goes a long way.
2. The simple ingredients
Body whips contain shea butter, cocoa butter, coconut oil and sweet almond oil.
Nothing else: no artificial fragrances, colours or preservatives. Between them, these
luxurious butters and oils can soothe skin irritation, provide moisture, and contribute
to skin elasticity.
3. You can see the effects on your skin
While I can’t say that our body whips are a cure or a medical intervention, I’ve been
told that using them has helped to soothe eczema, rashes, sunburn and psoriasis,
and to reduce stretch marks and lighten scars. All the goodness in the ingredients
helps to improve skin’s elasticity and its over all health, but the act of taking time to
care for your body and show it some love can work wonders, too.
4. No plastic packaging
If reduce, reuse and recycle is your thing, the aluminium tins are a good choice. They
can be washed out and reused at home, but many are given back to me. The
packaging is special: locally sourced and in the case of the wooden label, also made
here on the island.
5. They smell amazing!
I’ve been told my bathroom smells like a spa – with two dogs, two children and a
farmer husband, this is only ever true when we are expecting visitors, but if you’ve
been in there and used the body whip, you certainly will smell lovely. The gorgeous
scents are the first thing people comment on when they open the tins, and the
essential oil blends in the body whips linger on your skin.
The body whips are one of my bestselling products – and many of you have told me why. If
you would like to leave a comment (or compliment!) do so, and I’ll send the first 5 I see a
free sample-size body whip. Have a great week everyone xx
